Our approach eliminates this problem at the source with proper subgrade preparation, adequate thickness, appropriate reinforcement, and quality concrete finishing techniques. Every driveway project starts with subgrade preparation — we excavate to a minimum of 4 inches below finish grade, install compacted Class II road base (6 inches for heavy vehicle use), and verify compaction with density testing. Our standard residential driveway pour is 4 inches of 4,000 PSI concrete reinforced with fiber mesh, with 6-inch thickened edges at the apron and garage entry where loads concentrate. For homes with RVs, boats, or heavy equipment, we upgrade to 6 inches with welded wire reinforcement and increase the concrete strength to 4,500 PSI. Finish options include standard broom finish for maximum traction, exposed aggregate for a decorative natural stone appearance, stamped concrete in patterns like ashlar slate, cobblestone, or brick, and colored concrete using integral pigments or surface-applied stains. We install proper control joints every 8-10 feet to control cracking, and every driveway includes a 30-day cure period before heavy vehicle use. For existing driveways showing distress, our repair services include crack sealing, mudjacking for settled sections, partial replacement of severely damaged areas, and complete tear-out and replacement when repair is no longer cost-effective.
